ALICE DAVIDSON SIMS
 

From 2005 to 2015 Alice Sims mainly served as President of Art For The People, Inc. a 501 (c) 3, non-profit.  AFTP began in 2001 and incorporated in 2002 bringing art to those with little access to art. These include the homeless in shelters, youth at risk in school programs or after school, men and women in Montgomery County Correctional Programs, senior citizens in subsidized housing . Art For The People organized public art projects: including Takoma Mosaic at the Takoma Maryland Library, the Westmoreland Mosaic and Rain garden, the Piney Branch Elementary School Facade, and New Hampshire Recreation Center Facade. She was a member of Gallery K in Washington , DC and participated in group and individual exhibits.

 

In the DC area she participated in Art-O -Matic, Brookside GardensAnnual Exhibits and organized and participated in Takoma Artist Guildexhibits .

 

In Takoma Park, her home town, she served as President of Takoma Artist Guild, served on The City of Takoma Park Recreation Committee, Arts and Humanities Committee and served as the first Exhibitions Director for the Municipal Galleries.

 

She was Co-Director of the Women's Caucus National Conference in Washington, DC

 

At the Washington Women's Art Center on Q Street she was Exhibitions Director

 

She was an invited guest on the Phil Donahue,  Sally Jesse Raphael, Oprah  and Larry King Live television

After many years with Art For The People she now plans to devote time to her own art.
